Bourbon Barrel Stout Chili

It’s fall, which means it’s officially chili, soup, and stew season! Cooks across the Bluegrass are firing up stock pots and crock pots right and left. We’re no exception at Goodwood, where comfort food is on the menu every day of the year.
To get in the fall spirit, Goodwood entered the Great Louisville Chili Cook-off, formerly known as the Clifton Chili Cook-off. This event, held on October 9 in the Nulu neighborhood, drew chili fans from all over the state eager to try more than two dozen varieties of chili from local restaurants and home chefs.
Goodwood’s Jeff Houchin entered his own “No Noodles Allowed” chili, infused with Goodwood Bourbon Barrel Stout, into the running for best chili in the city. This recipe, which includes classic flavors of tomato and pepper, ground chuck, and a secret blend of spices, was an immediate hit with the crowd. Within two hours, the chili was gone and the satisfied chili lovers were left to savor the memory of Jeff’s cooking. Here’s the recipe in case you want to try it at home!
