Hello, Hi-Wood

For 5 years the Louisville Ale Trail has hosted Louisville Beer Week, an opportunity for local breweries and beer enthusiasts to connect and celebrate what makes Bluegrass beer special! We enjoy serving quality local beer every day at Goodwood, but Louisville Beer Week is a special time for beer lovers around our great city.

Participating beer week breweries are randomly paired up to create a collaboration beer. This year, we were matched with Hi-Wire, an Asheville based brewery with a dedicated following in Kentuckiana. On brewing day, Hi-Wire’s Peter Patinski and Alex Ball met our brewer Dale Savage at the Frankfort taproom to work some malty magic. The result of this collab is the Hi-Wire x Goodwood “Hi-Wood” Pumpkin Brown Sugar Stout. This molasses-forward seasonal brew has flavors of caramel and brown sugar; the addition of pumpkin lends a smooth mouthfeel. Clocking in at 8% ABV, this festive fall brew is sure to warm beer lovers from the inside out.

What do we love best about Louisville Beer Week? COO of Brewing and Bourbon, Quinton Nolan says, “Louisville Beer Week is a special time to showcase the city’s best beer. We love getting to work alongside fellow breweries to create new flavors for craft beer lovers in our city.”

Check out the official beer week website to map out your plans for the week. Release parties, panel discussions and many other events are happening in the next two weeks around Louisville. Also, new this year is the Louisville Beer Fest. Join Louisville Ale Trail and your favorite Louisville breweries at German American Club on Friday, Oct. 21, from 5 pm – 10 pm for beers, live music, and a good time. Learn more and purchase tickets here. We’ll be there! Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Hi-Wood will be on tap at the Nulu taproom October 21-30 or while supplies last. Cheers!
