Goodwood’s Oktoberfest is Here.

Cooler weather is on its way, and beer fans are gearing up for Oktoberfest and fall beer season. We tracked down Quinton Nolan, Goodwood’s COO of Brewing and Bourbon, to get the inside scoop on this annual favorite.

Goodwood’s 2022 Oktoberfest beer is the result of a collaboration with Proximity Malt, headquartered in Milwaukee, WI. Their grain comes from Delaware – and using USA grain was a priority for Nolan when considering where to source ingredients for this year’s Oktoberfest. Using USA grain allows Goodwood to “support American businesses and keep our beer priced the same as it has been,” even as inflation raises costs nationwide.

What makes Proximity so special? According to Nolan, “Since beer only has four ingredients, quality ingredients are a must.” Proximity malt is, he explains, “some of the highest [quality] in the market right now…we believe that Proximity had the best quality for this beer.” On brewing day at Goodwood’s Nulu location, Proximity representative Ted Pastoors joined in the day’s festivities, which included grilling brats and watching the brewing tanks. After this successful – and delicious – partnership, Nolan says that Goodwood plans to use Proximity malt in the future for all Goodwood products.

How will this year’s Oktoberfest be different from previous brews? Nolan says, “This year’s is going back to a more traditional recipe using German noble hops,” and will take the beer back to its original marzen lager style roots.

Oktoberfest was released September first at all Goodwood locations, and distributed throughout the region. Grab a six pack while you can!
